Ratings Breakdown

QUALITY

★★★★★
The materials they use are soft, durable, and flexible. These materials are also meant to last long term, which increases the overall potential quality.

VALUE

★★★★
They are a little pricier than some other brands of period panties, but may be more comfortable. So that may make their products increase in personal value.

CUSTOMER
EXPERIENCE

★★★★★
The panties are exceptionally moisture wicking while also keeping the body feeling dry.

BRAND

★★★★★
Knix is much more transparent than most other brands regarding their quality assurance processes. Their products are designed for women of all shapes and sizes for increased comfort and functionality.

Who is Knix?

Knix was founded by Joanna Griffiths in 2013 as a possible solution to an underwear market that was underperforming for most women. She wanted there to be more and better options of lingerie that were comfortable, looked good, and were fully functional for everyday use. And in order for this to work, she had to make most of the line leakproof.

In addition to making the Knix line leakproof and comfortable, Griffiths wanted to make them as ethical and sustainable as possible also. The Knix product line is all designed from their offices in Canada. However, they aren’t manufactured there.

They are manufactured overseas in China, Seoul, and Italy. But, this is one of the few companies that is transparent enough to tell consumers how the materials and facilities pass compliance. According to the brand, all materials and facilities are approved by:

  • WRAP – accrediting body for socially responsible factories in the sewn-products sector
  • SA8000 – quality assurance accreditation for social responsibility and accountability
  • Oeko-tex – a quality assurance body ensuring all products used in end products meet quality standards and do not contain toxic materials

While I do love all of this, and their transparency, I would love to see more about the sustainability of the materials they use also. Either way, it’s difficult to find even this amount of corporate transparency, so just this little bit already sets them apart from their competitors.

As an added bonus, they use real women of various sizes, shapes, and colors as their models. This speaks to their inclusivity and the fact that they want their products to work for any and all women. Which is a fantastic message to spread.

PROS

  • Different absorbency options
  • Multiple underwear designs to choose from
  • Soft, comfortable fabric
  • Machine-washable

CONS

  • The $23 price tag is more expensive than other period underwear options
  • Can feel a bit thicker in the crotch region, so may not be as comfortable for everyday wear

Knix Period Underwear Leak Performance

When I first ordered these I was concerned about the color. I wasn’t sure if the whole panty was going to be a lighter color or not. Luckily, the crotch region of their panties all have a black liner, which helped ease my mind in case of leaks.

The first day I had a chance to wear them after receiving them was the 3rd day of my cycle. So, it wasn’t nearly as heavy as the first day or two. However, I didn’t feel or notice anything the whole time I was wearing them. There weren’t any noticeable odors or dampness, which was fairly unexpected.

I wore a pair of my other period panties the day after and there was a noticeable difference, even though my cycle was lighter. I detected a slight odor and they definitely didn’t wick the moisture to the same degree that the Knix panties did.

I washed my Knix panties and wore them again on day 5. Once again, I felt absolutely nothing and it was beautiful! The panties have been worn and washed multiple times now and the performance hasn’t changed a bit. The fabric also still feels just as soft and smooth as when I first received them.

Knix Period Underwear Fit & Style

I had tried another brand of period underwear before, so I was excited to see if there was any discernible difference between those and Knix. Since they offered different styles of underwear, I wanted to try two different options to see if the fit or performance differed. So, I ordered the Knixy Lace Leakproof Bikini and the Knix Leakproof Bikini Period Underwear

Once I placed my order, I was able to track it through my Knix account. While the tracking never updated past the “pending information” window, I did actually receive them in 7 business days. Which was within the normal delivery window expected, so there must have been a glitch in their system. But all’s well that ends well.

Initially, both pairs of panties fit a bit more snugly the first time. But, after washing and wearing them once, they fit beautifully. The brand actually mentions this is a normal thing for their products, so it shouldn’t have surprised me.

Even with that though, they were amazingly buttery soft and comfortable to wear all day. I love that they are seamless like most of my other regular panties, because I detest panty lines. They were also cooling throughout the day, so I hardly ever noticed they were there.

My only complaint was the thicker crotch liner. It just took some getting used to due to my regular panties not having this option. But, compared to the other brand of period panties I’ve tried, it’s actually much thinner. So, overall, these were a great find.

Is Knix Period Underwear Good Quality?

The fact that Knix uses facilities and materials that are quality-certified speaks volumes about their products. While they don’t offer a warranty on their products, they do seem to last a fairly long time. The fabrics they use in their product line are also known to have a longer lifespan than some of the other products more typical in lingerie.

These products include:

  • Seaweed Fiber
  • Modal
  • Polyurethane Film
  • Polyester
  • Nylon
  • Spandex

But, while the products are meant to last a long time, they aren’t all as great for the environment. So this is something to keep in mind if you are planning to purchase more eco-friendly products.

Are Knix Period Underwear Worth It?

Knix Period Underwear is a great find for those consumers that need and/or want a little bit more protection than traditional underwear provides. All of their underwear gives at least some moisture control and support. Whether you are someone who needs them for just some light period days, minor incontinence, or as an added barrier for those really heavy period days, they have something for you.

However, the prices can be a bit steep. So, once you’ve tried them and find the correct size, I would suggest purchasing their multipacks to help offset the cost. Or, in a lot of cases, they offer a discount if you purchase 3 or more of the same product, which is another good option to help keep Knix within your budget.

Either way, the products they have provided are a great service to most women out there and they are certainly worth a try. At least once.

Knix Coupons & Discounts
