After its recent launch in the middle east, kylie Jenner’s beauty company Kylie Cosmetics has been making the rounds lately for several reasons. First, it’s super cute pink packaging, which we admit is aesthetic, and also its wide range of hues that suit all skin types and shades.

However, after years of hype and trending Tik Toks and Instagram reels, Bazaar Arabia’s Social Media Editor, Anahita Ghai, tests out the products to see if they are really worth the purchase…

Kylie Cosmetics Review: Is It Really Worth The Hype?

The Infamous Lip Kits

If you know the brand, you know this product. Possibly the most popular item from the whole range are the lip kits that include one liquid matte lipstick and a liner complimenting the shade.

Pros

  1. Extremely long-lasting. I have to give it to the product for its longevity, I have tested these out from 8 am to 10 pm, and they didn’t require any retouching.
  2. Smudge-free. If you’re a matte person like me, then you will fall in love with these. I have attended dinners and events, and they haven’t created any smudging residue on my chin, which is a big thumbs up from me.
  3. A wide range of colours available. I like choices and options, and when it comes to the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits, they have a diverse range of hues. Because I am Indian, I have a tanned olive sort of skin colour and often struggle to find shades that compliment my tones well. My favourites were: Candy K, Booked and Busy, and Mary Jo K.

Cons

  1. Very drying. Unfortunately, most matte lipsticks have this issue. And while we can’t help it with the heat and humidity of Dubai, these matte lipsticks dry out your skin more, feeling quite scratchy and flaky. My advice would be to use a lip oil or lip scrub before application to prevent further drying.
  2. The product dries out quickly. After I opened my first lip kit and liquid lipstick, I felt the product was drying out quite quickly. I checked the packaging and saw it has to be used within six months of opening, which seems relatively standard.

Pressed Blush Powder

Unpopular opinion, but when I got my hands on this product, I was truly surprised. First, I was surprised that Kylie Cosmetics even did blush and contour. I have always been a Nars blush loyalist, so this was a first.

Pros

  1. My favourite product by the brand. Hands down, I have found my no.1 top product by Kylie Cosmetics. The colour, texture, everything is just beautiful.
  2. Long-lasting. This blush, hands down, is the best one to get your hands on, especially if you live in a hot country like the UAE; trust me, this will last.
  3. The colour suits my skin tone perfectly. I am surprised that I am saying this, but as someone with Indian skin, this blush suited me, and I didn’t need to blend it out.

Cons

  1. I have nothing bad to say about this product. Honestly.

Pressed Bronzing Powder

I am quite simple when it comes to my bronzing and contouring needs so there’s no doubt I was happy to see the brand come out with a multi-purpose product. Several viral Tik Toks have shown several ways to use this product, for instance, as a face bronzer, eyeshadow, and even as an undereye shadow.

Pros

  1. Loved the texture. Even though the product is a pressing powder, it didn’t feel too ‘powdery’ and drying as some bronzers do.
  2. Easy to build. I like that the velvet-like texture of the product allows you to mix, match, and experiment to give you the perfect shaded look.

Cons

  1. Isn’t long-lasting at all. To keep the beautiful shade on your face throughout the day, ensure you finish your regime with a setting spray.
  2. I needed a darker hue for my skin colour. The shades in this range were quite limited. I felt the darkest shade was still not giving me the contouring I was looking for.
